You don't have to run the whole course. Many participants walk parts or the entire route. The goal is to finish.

The Expo is free and fun
The Indy Mini Expo (Wed-Fri before the race) is free and open to the public. Exhibitors, activities, and you can feel the event's excitement without participating.
The brick-kissing tradition
When you reach the IMS Yard of Bricks during the Mini, kneel and kiss the bricks -- it's the race's tradition. Optional but highly recommended.
The Indy Mini is one of those experiences that, once completed, changes how you see yourself as a runner and as an Indianapolis resident. Running through the IMS -- the same track where the Indy 500 has been run since 1911 -- is an experience with no equivalent in any other race in the country. And in 2026 it's the 50th edition -- a historic moment.
